The Introduction & Foundation in Business Mentoring Courses

Are you a new or aspiring professional business mentor? Are you a mentor on a programme that requires an expert introduction to business mentoring? Or a mentor looking to take your first step to becoming a professional business mentor through recognised accreditation?

To support mentors at the start of their professional business mentoring journey, the Association of Business Mentors (ABM) has developed a unique interactive workshop that will help you gain the knowledge, skills and confidence you need to effectively mentor or coach people within a business environment and context.

Both courses are recognised by the Institute of Leadership (ILM) and delivered by Agile Training. The 'ABM Introduction to Business Mentoring' course is used by the Government to train mentors through its Help to Grow Management Course.

Introduction to Business Mentoring

Who is this qualification for?

This ILM recognised workshop is a 2 hour virtual or in-person course with pre and post reading enabling attendees to gain a better understanding of business mentoring.

The workshop is ideal for organised mentoring programme mentors, individual mentors who wish to gain the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to effectively mentor or coach people within a business environment and context or for experienced mentors that wish to start on a path of formal learning and development before proceeding to ABM membership or the Foundation, Level 5 or Level 7.

What will you gain?

Explore the origins of mentoring and the differences between mentoring, coaching and consultancy, plus learn how to keep each support function separate
Know what it takes to be an effective business mentor
Understand the role and responsibilities of effective mentors
Understand the ethics and boundaries of mentoring
Explore the role of the mentee
Obtain an ILM Digital Token of Attendance & Completion .

The workshop is used by the Government to train mentors through its Help to Grow Management Course.

Foundation in Business Mentoring

Who is this qualification for?

This ILM recognised course is for aspiring or experienced mentors who wish to gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to effectively business mentor or coach people within a business environment and context. It is also an ideal qualification for those who wish to commence a career in business mentoring or coaching and wish to learn more.

What will you gain?

Know what it takes to be an effective business mentor and coach.
Understand the role and responsibilities of effective mentors and coaches.
Learn how to manage mentoring and coaching processes using recognised models.
Put your new skills into practice by carrying out supervised mentoring and coaching sessions.
Analyse your mentoring and coaching performance in order to improve own ability.

The Qualification takes a minimum of 6 weeks and comprises of three workbooks and two short assignments.
