"Mentoring is a process where one person offers help, guidance and support, using empathy and practical experiences of their own, to facilitate the learning and development of another." Simon Fordham, ABM Chair
The Association of Business Mentors (ABM) is the voice of professional business mentoring in the UK.
Its members are experienced business owners, leaders and organisations, spanning all business sizes and sectors right across the UK, empowering businesses to grow and succeed and helping them through the highs and lows.
The ABM’s mission is to professionalise and raise the standards of business mentoring, ensuring that every business owner in the UK has access to professional, trusted, experienced and knowledgeable business mentors.
The ABM provides a programme of continuous learning and development as well as networking opportunities to its members across the UK’s nations and regions. In 2020 it launched the UK’s first Institute of Leadership and Management Level 5 and 7 in Executive and senior coaching and mentoring (business), and in 2023 launched the first UK and internationally recognized digital credential in business mentoring.
Governance
The ABM is a non-profit making organisation run by volunteer members for its members. The governance structure is a Chair, Director Board, Executive Team, Regional Heads and Members. We have a number of Committees that support the operations of the association. There are two paid members of the team, the Chief Executive and Administration Manager. We derive our income from membership fees and training. Any surplus is re-invested in promoting the ABM and professional business mentoring.
